>Knock, knock! Anybody home?

(This picture is a possible apparition of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Read this blog for the story.)

Last night, I posted this note to myself on twitter at about 2:10 am: Making a note to remind myself in the morning. Knocking on the kitchen wall and window. Asked it to stop and it obeyed. Said Lawrence and a big bang on the wall followed. Investigate for heating ducts tomorrow.

I didn’t get much sleep last night, to say the least. I’m well accustomed to various entities passing through and trying to get my attention. A long time ago, I learned to tune it out at night, otherwise I would never get any sleep. Some souls, however, know how to get my attention even when I try to “turn off” my intuitive senses. My grandfather, Sam Jewett (nicknamed Brick), is one of them. My great-grandmother, Esther Dobberteen, is another. A couple of soldiers I’ve picked up along the way can also get past my intuitive block, and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain being the most persistent among them due to our previous relationships and his choice not to reincarnate with this generation. His occasional presence in my life and my willingness to talk about it opened me to ridicule a long time ago and I have accepted that. It doesn’t bother me anymore. In other people’s shoes, I would probably give me the side eye too. On the other hand, my connection to Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (I was his wife in a previous life as written in the book Unveiled: Fanny Chamberlain Reincarnated) has taught me to not be so judgmental of other people’s paranormal experiences. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Last night was an interesting encounter. I went to bed around 12:30 am and I watched television while I waited for my grandmother to get herself into bed too. I ended up getting sucked into the movie For the Boys and I was awake longer than I intended. The house was perfectly still when I turned off the television around 1:40 am and I rolled on my back to do my nightly meditation ritual. Almost immediately, knocking rapped out from my kitchen wall and the glass panes of the kitchen window. At first, I ignored it, passing it off as the house settling or some other natural noise. Just as I had that thought, there was more knocking on the window panes, only louder. Still, I ignored it. After about ten minutes of ignoring it, the knocking got so loud that I jumped and I was afraid it was going to wake up my grandmother across the house.

“Stop! You’re going to wake her!” I blurted without thinking.

Immediately, the knocking stopped and even though I was very doubtful that the noise was anything but my house popping and settling, I did think it was odd that natural popping and settling stopped the second I told it to stop. I decided to test it just to make myself feel better.

“Who’s there?”

No response. I was fairly satisfied that it wasn’t anything paranormal, but after a few minutes, I still hadn’t shaken the feeling that someone was in the room with me.

“Lawrence?”

Immediately, I got a response of softer knocking on the window the way someone would knock if they were trying to be quiet. I don’t like to jump to conclusions though. My mind ran through every natural possibility for the knocking but I couldn’t figure out how a natural occurrence was responding to verbal commands. At that point, my dog, who had been asleep at my side, jumped up and ran to the living room as if someone had called her even though I didn’t hear anything. It was dark, so I couldn’t see what my dog was doing in the living room, but after a minute or two, she came back to bed and went to sleep again.

I rolled over on my side facing the living room, resolved that I wasn’t going to be able to figure out what was going on until today. Frankly, it was after 2 am and I was very tired, even for a rare encounter with Lawrence. Just as I settled, I heard three footsteps near the divide between the living room and the place where I sleep, which is hardwood floor. Not only did I hear clear footsteps but the sound was that distinct clopping of old boots (his boots are pictured). I felt energy in the room as well. Then I was fairly convinced that it was Lawrence dropping in for a visit. People who spend enough time with me know exactly what the boots sound like because they have heard it too. My mother has seen boots walking by her in reflections as well. I suspect boots from that period are such a distinctive sound that he and other soldiers use it to make themselves known. The sound is comforting to me in a way that is not entirely in the here and now, as if I found the sound comforting in that time as well. The sound of his boots on the floor meant he was home.

I could not find any reason why there would be knocking on that part of the wall or the window when I checked things out this morning. Last night I even waited for the heat to kick on but no strange sounds happened when it did, nor were there any strange sounds when the refrigerator motor kicked on too. If someone runs water upstairs, the pipe makes noise on the other side of the house, not on the window pane in the kitchen. There aren’t any trees brushing up against the house either. There are delicate vines. Either the vines turned evil and tried to bust through the window or something paranormal happened. Was it Lawrence? Well, all the indications said it was him. Without a big blinking sign or him saying, “Hello! It’s Lawrence!” there will always be detractors and skeptics. That’s okay. I tried everything I knew to find a natural explanation and I couldn’t find one. This has happened a few times before this year but I always dismissed it. Last night, however, Lawrence or whomever it was, refused to be dismissed and ignored. I can be a little bit stubborn sometimes!

>Background information: For those unaware, I have been researching paranormal events, specifically reincarnation, since I went through coming to terms with my own reincarnation cases about ten years ago. The case most studied about me is that of Fanny Chamberlain, wife of Civil War General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. He did not incarnate with this generation, which means he is in spirit, and my family, friends and I have been encountering him periodically for many, many years. Last summer, two friends and I went on a road trip to New York and Maine. While in New York, I think Lawrence turned up in a photo.

This blog was originally posted in the summer of 2008:

I have a picture I want you guys to see. George’s daughter, Katie, took Sarra’s camera at the summer house in New York to take a picture of her cat but she got this instead. If you look at the window, you will see a male face looking in the window. He is wearing dark blue and he has a long nose like Lawrence with a similar face shape. Look at the picture and I’ll explain more.

Sarra sent this picture to some of her paranormal investigator friends and as far as I know, she was told that she has a genuine anomaly here. She will have to clarify when her internet access is restored. When I first saw the picture, it freaked me out and I said there was no way it could be Lawrence because he doesn’t have a history of appearing on film and he rarely manifests. In fact, if he manifests at all, it usually means there is someone in my life that he does not like and he is trying to warn them to get out of my life. Well, today Sarra was looking at the picture with her friend and they saw something that she hadn’t seen before. He’s wearing a kepi. If you zoom in, there are a lot more details to the point where she saw part of the gold horn thing embroidered on the kepi we saw in his house a few days after the picture was taken. I don’t know if you guys can zoom in or not but I have the one where you can zoom in and I see it. This is Lawrence’s actual kepi for comparison.

When Lawrence manifests in uniform, it means he is trying to be recognized because more people recognize him that way. The few times I see him, he is usually not in uniform because I remember more of his civilian life than his military life. I was skeptical before but there are aspects of the figure that I recognize so I do think it’s him now. Sarra does too.

I enlarged the section of the photograph in question and I lightened it by 10%, I think it was. You can see him very clearly and you can see the gold horn thingy on his kepi. I also forgot to mention that when Lawrence does manifest to me, nine times out of ten, I see him in windows or mirrors as a reflection. He likes reflective surfaces for some reason. That’s why we were taking pictures of mirrors and windows in the Chamberlain house because we were hoping he would show up. Look at the enlarged picture:

>Ever wondered about your spirit guide?

As things get worse in the world and people struggle to make ends meet, the prevailing questions people ask me are in regards to their spirit guides, who they are, if they have any messages, and so forth. I believe people look for spiritual answers when the material world fails them but ignore the guidance the universe and spirit guides have to offer when things are going in their favor. This is a mistake. There are often warning signs or different opportunities presented before things go bad that people should be paying attention to as a preventative measure. Most often, I have people telling me, “I had a bad feeling about that,” or, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that,” but they make those mistakes anyway. To break that habit, one should stop and ask oneself from where exactly those “bad feelings” or intuitive knowledge come. I usually tell people in these cases that the voice of conscience throwing up little red flags or telling you certain things is actually the voice of your spirit guide.

The relationship between a person and their spirit guide can be the most deeply personal in that lifetime. This is the soul that knows the most about you and what you’re hoping to achieve with the present lifetime, and they exist in order to guide you toward your lifetime goals. There is a difference between a spirit guide and an entity of protection, however. A spirit guide typically does not intervene in cases of emergency where one’s life is in danger. Those instances are when ancestral entities or angels (if you believe in angels) intervene to protect you if it’s not your “scheduled time of departure” to word death mildly. I describe it as a spirit guide will warn you before going into a dangerous situation or try to make it difficult for you to get there, but if you ignore it and do it anyway, the angels or ancestral entities will throw proverbial weight around like bodyguards unless it really is your time to depart. There are also different types of spirit guides. They can be human souls who are no longer reincarnating (the majority), or they can be totems, animal spirits, or other nature spirits. I’ve seen most people have a human spirit guide and some type of animal spirit guide. My mother has a cat as hers, for example.

A big misconception about spirit guides is goes like this: “My grandmother died when I was a little kid and I think she’s my spirit guide now.” Sorry, but no, that’s not the case. A spirit guide is with a person since gestation and therefore could not possibly be living in the person’s lifetime at all. Spirits of family members departed within a person’s lifetime are just that — spirits of family members. Yes, they check in and visit you, and some may act in roles of protection, but they will not step into your spirit guide’s job description. That position was agreed upon by your soul and the guide’s soul before you were born into this life. In most cases, you have been through past lives with your spirit guide, but rarely do I encounter a spirit guide that has reincarnated recently. In order to achieve that kind of level of responsibility, it has to be a very old soul and most likely finished with reincarnating altogether.

My spirit guide was a Native American in her last lifetime, so that is how she presents herself now. All entities will show themselves in the most recognizable way to you. Her last lifetime was the early 1700s and she was the equivalent of a midwife in the region of what southern Mexico is now. I was a rather young mother-to-be within her community (young for today’s standards) at age fifteen. Unfortunately, I languished in childbirth for a very long time and died under her care, my child dying with me. That relationship of caregiver and patient in my worst moment at that time was what planted the seed for her becoming my spirit guide in this present lifetime, which is so filled with health challenges, including the loss of a child. I have also been very drawn to maternal figures throughout my life such as the Virgin Mary and the goddess Isis. I count my spirit guide among the most influential maternal figures. Her name at that time was Nauwa, which I found out later is a word meaning drum. Calling on her during meditation affords me an opportunity to receive guidance and advice that I would totally miss if I was ignoring her presence in my life.

What Nauwa is to me is a preexisting relationship ready for the taking between each of you and your spirit guides. They are the universe’s way of giving you a built-in therapist and guidance counselor. People who have good connections with their spirit guides tend to live happier lives with a better idea of where they’re going and how to move toward their goals. Simply knowing that you’ve always had and always will have someone on your side is a big relief for some people.

I have been getting several special requests for readings about spirit guides in the last year. For a long time, I was only doing it by special request because I wanted to be sure I was connecting in a way that was helpful to both the client and the spirit guide. Now that I’ve become more comfortable connecting to this type of reading, I have decided to include it in my regular selection of readings on my website. My goal is to help people establish a connection with their spirit guides and then teach them how to maintain a regular connection so that an intuitive like me no longer becomes necessary. The job of every intuitive should be to teach their clients how to awaken their own spirituality. While we do need to make a living, the bigger picture is really about giving the world its own spiritual tools. To explain the two new readings I’m offering:

Who Is Your Spirit Guide – $30.00 & $60.00 price tiers – This reading will give you the name your guide presently uses, a physical description of how he/she presents him/herself, a description of a previous life in which you were together, and any specific messages that might come through for you from them. Additionally, I will begin teaching you techniques to establish and maintain a healthy, conscious connection with your guide and follow up on your progress. Click here to go to the readings ordering page.

Your Spirit Guide Plus Portrait – $90.00 price tier & above – This is a unique reading because it utilizes my skills in psychic drawing, which is related to automatic writing. Automatic writing is the process, or product, of writing material that does not come from the conscious thoughts of the writer. The writer’s hand forms the message, and the person is unaware of what will be written. It is sometimes done in a trance state. Other times the writer is aware (not in a trance) of their surroundings, but the actions of their writing hand. Psychic drawing is the same concept except the intuitive (me) sketches images instead of writing words. So by purchasing this reading, you will receive everything in the Who Is Your Spirit Guide reading, plus you will receive an 8×10 (inches) charcoal portrait of your spirit guide. I can do color portraits but the price will have to be negotiated. A visual image of your spirit guide allows for a stronger connection during the meditation process.
