From my mother….

From my mother....

LoriRecently, my family has fallen on very difficult times. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who reblogged, offered support, or contributed to my emergency car repair GoFundMe. I exceeded my goal because of beautifully kind people willing to assist in an impossible situation that I couldn’t handle on my own. Because of social media support on multiple platforms, I’m able to have my engine replaced and still buy food and necessities too.

If anyone wishes to see the paperwork from my mechanic when I get my car back next week (in case there are any doubts about the validity), I’ll be happy to provide it. Additionally, I’ve decided to make donations of my excess clothes, books, and makeup to local women’s shelters after everything is said and done with my car. I have plenty of stuff lying around (gifts and things over the years–I’m a packrat) here that could be put to better use. People helping me in this emergency situation have reminded me of just how easily any of us could end up in serious trouble. It’s an important reminder that we need to do kindnesses for others when kindnesses have been done for us. I’ve gotten (literal, really) life-saving help this week. I’m going to help women’s shelters in the weeks to come in return.

Again, if you reblogged, offered support, or contributed to my fundraiser, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. My mother and I appreciate your help so much. Without each of you, we would not be able to repair our car at all.

And this is a message from my mother:

For thirty years, I’ve had to take my lunch hour from work to go home and take care of Jessica’s needs. Without a car, I am not able to do that. I was so depressed to think I would not be able to take care of her like I have been before the engine blew on my car. Jessica’s dinner, personal routines, and whatever else she needed would have to wait for 6 hours or so on some days and 8-10 hours or so on other days. I wanted to cry every night. Jessica is my everything.

Every day I work around people who are rude and so self-absorbed. I saw through my eyes that this must be what the world has come to. But everyone who helped pay for my car to be fixed has restarted my faith in the human race. There is no way to say how grateful I am to every one of you. To say thank you will never be enough, but thank you for my car, Jessica, and reminding me about the loving souls on this earth. I will never forget any of you or what you’ve done for us, ever. Thank you and god/goddess bless you.
